Varying Views on Graffiti and “Street Art”
I always like to hear both sides of the story. I recently came across this incredibly lengthy, and I’ll admit, well-written article condemning graffiti, Jeffrey Deitch, and the recent Art In The Streets show at MOCA. Heather Mac Donald of the City Journal writes “Radical Graffiti Chic” - Sponsored by L.A.’s aristocracy, the Museum of Contemporary Art’s new show celebrates vandalism.
An excellent read for sure, not that I agree with most of her points, but it’s interesting to get the perspective of someone on the outside looking in at the world we live in.
Also worth the read is Saber’s response the Heather Mac Donald, titled THE DEVIL WEARS A PINK SUIT: A RESPONSE TO “RADICAL GRAFFITI CHIC”
Enjoy!
